Gaura Purnima Celebrations

Gaura Purnima Celebrations

The children and community of the school celebrated the festival of Gaura Purnima on Wednesday 20th March. This festival celebrates the appearance of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. It is observed annually (in February – March) by Krishna devotees all over the world—especially in the area of Mayapur, India, the place where Mahaprabhu appeared in the year 1486.Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the Supreme Person, Krishna Himself, appearing as His own devotee, to teach us that we can gain full enlightenment simply by chanting the holy names of the Lord:

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

In school Mother Moksha led a bathing ceremony (Abhishek) for the Gaura Nitai deities with children and staff. Our older children provided the Kirtan and did an amazing job showing us how talented they are and how much they have learned from Loka Bandu  during their weekly music lessons. Children came dressed in devotional clothes ( looking very gorgeous) and brought delicious offerings too which everyone shared in a picnic together after the ceremony finished. We hope you enjoy looking at the photos.
